Asians in the Library – UCLA Student Rant Against Asians Cartoon
UCLA student, Alexandra Wallace, posted a video on YouTube bashing Asians in a hateful tirade that happened to coincide with the terrible earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011. This video takes the entire transcript of her monologue, breaks it down and changes it into a dialogue between two cute furry creatures. The white animal to the left represents Ms. Wallace and the tan animal to the right represents any other sane person listening to this rant.

“Pie-hole”…. Hahahahahahahahaha!!!
@o0ohahahao0o Ad hominem is an ad hominem too. I just label it to save time. Ad hominem doesn’t have to be a smear, it just has to suggest that an argument or position is invalid because of a label, such as racist, or republican. Of course you think that, you’re Asian. Ad hominems are sometimes acceptable too. Stop acting like you’re more knowledgeable on the subject. Ad hominem.
@o0ohahahao0o An ad hominem is simply a label without reason. I know what I’m talking about. The rant was that Asians were being rude. that’s what the argument was about. Over scrutinizing every last word and insulting her is slothful inducting and ad hominem. She described nuisance behaviour of Asians. Asians are too proud to acknowledge that’s even remotely possible. So they attack and change the subject to how stupid and “racist” she was. etc.
@o0ohahahao0o The point is, since you can’t get it, that English is the standard language that the Asians love to and must learn if they ever want to get out of their close-minded societies. Without the English or other European languages, the Asians are stuck in their holes forever more. The term “American college student(s)” is an inclusive term to include everybody who consider themselves American by birth or naturalization. So this means they’re more than capable in other languages. U fail
@ambidextrality LMAO. You have no clue what you’re talking about. Ad hominem is a personal attack with an intention to smear. ambidextrality did NOTHING of the sort. Apparently you can’t understand that Alexandra Wallace kept making logical inconsistencies that rendered her entire point moot.
@ambidextrality LOL. Was that too big of a word for you? Next time, if you don’t understand something, maybe you should actually take the time to educate yourself instead of throwing around the term “ad hominem” as if it were some form of valid rebuttal.
@KCAASE LMAO @ this post. Uh, the one’s that can’t speak English as well are INTERNATIONAL students. Still their English as a second (maybe third) language is FAR better than most native Americans’. Hell, some don’t even SPEAK another language. Asian-AMERICANS are statistically FAR more proficient in English than their counterparts. Can you imagine the average American college student ordering food in another country? Yeah.
Most people abuse freedom of speech anyway, what she said was no way anything to bitch about unless you believe it to be true or it was a personal attack on the individual family. I’m sorry “hordes of Asians” but I don’t see what you do to other races being anything different. Just because your insults aren’t in english doesn’t take away from the exclusion to others, ignorance and self-woship. youtube supports attention whores of all colors.
aaaw, it’s Hello Kitty!
well done-love it
lol @ 3:46, she rubs her tummy.. hahaa
Boy will she have a hard time finding a job in her Future.
@TheLumpiaRocket
I’m Chinese and I would like to see the original video. Youtube is full of comments and replies but can you tell me where the video is that started it all? THANKS!
@TheLumpiaRocket Another ad hominem. I can be a hypocrite and still right, lol. I’m a troll sometimes. What can I say. But I don’t think she was being overly critical. She was just annoyed that Asians are doing things that aren’t traditional here. We go to college and leave home. Our families don’t go with us to do our chores. And we don’t talk in the library, as a general rule. And public mobile usage: annoying, especially library. Maybe we should have our family on campus. not the tradition
@ambidextrality interesting that you keep bringing up ad hominem when you are the one guilty of it by suggesting that my points are not valid because I am Asian and only good at “computer gay shit,” “dim-witted, overly sensitive, hypocrytical, and slow inductors.” You claim my video response is overly critical when in fact I’m pointing out the fact that Ms Wallace is the one who was overly critical in her hasty judgement of Asians.
@ambidextrality you mentioned the need to spell it out. That’s exactly the point for Ms Wallace. She seems to initially target international students (who happen to be Asian)… yet she only refers to “them” as “Asian” which is a broader group (including US born Asian-Americans). Her rant then portrays an “us” (her perception of what’s American) vs. “them” (Asians as a group which again by her description could include Asian Americans).
@ambidextrality furthermore, if I know I don’t like pancakes then what the heck am I doing complaining at IHOP for??
. Ms Wallace is saying that she sees only Asians being rude in the library…well when you’re at a school where the majority are Asian, then what do you expect? And when UCLA is 7th in the US to have an international student population (majority from again… Asia), then what do you expect? Chances are if you DO encounter a rude person… it will be from that majority group.
@ambidextrality ok let’s say I start telling people that I hate pancakes because I tried blueberry pancakes a few times and so I’ve come to the conclusion that all pancakes are no good. Doesn’t make much sense since I’m really only talking about my limited experience. Ms Wallace is making a hasty generalization that is a logical fallacy and a mistake most people make when they come up with these stereotypes which then lead to racist remarks.
@TheLumpiaRocket And by the way, I find it really amazing that you would throw a big word like that at me but totally call her a racist when it’s an emotionally charged ad hominem. Which is totally wrong on your part. But join the club.
@TheLumpiaRocket Are you saying the No talking in the library, Ever; or something about Asians? You have to spell it out. Common sense dictates that general rules are in some kind of context to quicken communication. But I don’t see gross generalizations and if there were any, they’re beside the point. I still expect you to point them out.
LOL this is hilarious!!! xD OMG I love this! Your responses are so smart xD
@ambidextrality no, it does not make a person racist when they recount facts about their own experiences. Ms Wallace however draws incorrect (racist) conclusions from her experiences about Asians that are certainly not indicative of just one group of people. A dicto secundum quid ad dictum simpliciter.
@ambidextrality Oops, sorry. I didn’t realise I responded already. Anyway, I know you’re upset, but I think being Asian it’s making it difficult to have perspective on the issue, and hence the video you made is like overly critical about every last word. Anyway, whatever. take care. Bye.
@TheLumpiaRocket Let’s say that I’m attacked by a group of black guys and I describe the event. Does that make someone racist, and therefore I should change the ethnicities to make it more friendly to the delusionals that hate themselves? You seem to have come to the incorrect conclusion that generalizations are all wrong. They’re only wrong if they’re gross and inaccurate.
@TheLumpiaRocket That’s because you don’t know what closed minded or ad hominem means. You see, all that doesn’t matter. What matters is whether her complaint is legitimate or not. And it is. A generalization is not always wrong. only gross generalizations are wrong, mostly. If the Asians keep repeatedly doing the same unreasonable thing, it’s completely acceptable to say the Asians are doing it. And it easily could be unreasonable for the Asian families to populate the dorms.
